Thanks for stopping by!

We are Joshua and Kristy Cohen, and along with our three sweet girls ages 5, 3 and 10 months, we are the Digital Nomad Family.  We are location-independent entrepreneurs with a passion to travel the world and a desire to give our daughters a global education and a life of adventures.

We spent the first few years of our marriage struggling to find our way after college, knowing that we didn't fit in with everyone else's conventions and norms.  It didn't take long for us to realize that desk jobs and two weeks of paid leave weren't going to cut it for the life that we dreamed of, but we weren't sure what a different lifestyle looked like or how it could be possible.

Then we read “The 4-Hour Work Week”, and it changed our world.  It was the first time I’d heard someone else express the same desires for a different life, away from the cubicles and white picket fences and expectations of normalcy, and it immediately resonated with us.

We sold our house in 2012 and gave away almost all our possessions for free, and it was the biggest relief to be free of all our stuff!  We have one little storage pod of treasured photos and keepsakes, as well as my grand piano (the sole piece of furniture we kept), but we have pretty much been living out of a handful of suitcases since then, and I don’t miss any of it.

Joshua and I started traveling as soon as we got married, and the best times in our marriage were always when we were exploring new places together.

Before our girls were born, we:

  • fed a stingray on our honeymoon in the Bahamas

  • climbed to the top of Diamond Head in Hawaii

  • went river tubing in Guatemala

  • explored the blue domes and windmills of the Greek Isles

  • kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland

  • looked out over Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower on Valentine’s Day

  • rode up a mountain to the highest train station in Europe on our babymoon in Switzerland

  • relaxed for a week in St. Lucia

  • rang in the New Year in New York City

Since we’ve had the girls and sold our house, we have:

  • hung out with Mickey Mouse at DisneyWorld Florida, Disneyland California, and Disneyland Paris

  • lived in the heart of Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, California for 4 months

  • celebrated the 4th of July with firedancing and lanterns in Hanalei Bay (Kauai, Hawaii)

  • reveled in spending a week at Disney’s Aulani hotel on Oahu (Hawaii)

  • taken kitesurfing lessons in Tenerife (Spanish island off the coast of Africa)

  • watched cows meander behind our rented home in the Irish countryside

  • swam in the Mediterranean out to a hidden cave, off the coast of Mallorca, Spain

  • visited New Orleans, San Antonio, Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon, and Palm Springs on an epic cross-country road trip across the United States

  • celebrated Bastille Day in Paris, watching the most amazing fireworks right from the Eiffel Tower

…and we’re still just getting started!

Our girls are currently 5 years, 3 years, and 10 months old, and they are fantastic travelers.  We adore getting to spend so much time with our girls while they’re young and getting to introduce them to new cultures, sights, and people.

Whether you’re looking to travel extensively or plan an awesome one-week vacation, we’re here to give you practical tips for traveling with children, as well as inspiration and recommendations for where to go and what to do there.

One of our big hopes with this blog is to encourage other parents that travel with your children is possible and that it’s fun!

And outside of inspiring families, we’re also here to encourage anyone who’s had that nagging feeling inside that settling down in one place is a painful, trapped existence, that you can break out!  You can color outside of the lines and live life on your own terms.

We want to free you from the mindset that you have to work a traditional job, have to buy a house and settle down in order to be a normal adult, have to conform to what your family and friends expect of you.  We want to encourage and inspire you to create an amazing life and pursue your dreams!  We believe that we all have the ability to create a life of adventure, and we hope you’ll join us in making an awesome life.

We are always looking for new entrepreneurs to work with to help create the freedom that you want in life.  You can learn more about how you can join the Digital Nomad Family and begin your own incredible journey HERE.

Our family has a big heart to make a difference in this world, not just be idle tourists and consumers.  As such, it’s our commitment that we donate 11% of our profits every month - 5% to freeing slaves in Sudan, 5% to a charity chosen by our readers each month, and 1% to the Whole Planet Foundation.  We know that we are fortunate to have the lifestyle and luxuries that we have, and we want to share our resources to improve others’ lives.
